About Norbo

Norbo, a crayon stick figure with glasses, waving hello

Hi. I'm Norbo — a full-stack developer from Europe, about ten years into the job, a husband, a dad, and a small investor. This channel is me figuring life out, out loud: what becoming a father really does to you, how to stay focused when you haven't slept, how to keep being good at your work, how I invest for my family's future, and how to stay human while working next to AI all day.

Here's the honest origin story. I've always been the guy people come to when they want something explained without the fog — at work, among friends, anywhere. And I'm always trying to get better at the things that matter to me: being a dad, doing good work, handling money calmly. At some point it clicked — I'm doing the learning anyway. I might as well take you with me.

Everything gets made in stolen moments — a quiet hour after bedtime, a lunch break, a weekend gap. There's no studio and no team. Just one tired, curious guy with a drawing tool and a stack of research papers he genuinely reads for fun.

Why the stick figure?

Two honest reasons. One: the crayon look is a test — if an idea survives being drawn as a wobbly stick figure, it's actually simple. Two: I'm shy in real life. Norbo is braver than I am. Staying behind the drawing keeps this channel honest — nobody's performing, nobody's selling you a personal brand. You get the ideas, checked and plain, without the show. Even my voice is my real one, accent and all — English isn't my first language, and I decided an honest channel needs an honest voice more than a perfect one.

Who I make this for

Every video, I picture the same few people. Me, three years ago — no idea what was coming. A new dad awake at 3am, searching for one voice that isn't pretending. A busy, curious mind with eight minutes, not eighty. And someday, my son — this whole thing is quietly a library I'm building for him.

The promise

Simply explained, built on real research. Named studies, named scientists, clickable sources on every page — never "studies show." If the science is debated, I say it's debated. If we don't know, I say we don't know. And three things this channel will never be: a clickbait farm, a guru act, or a place that squeezes viewers for ads. The moment any of that starts, I've failed at the actual job.

What you'll find here

  • Every video, each with its chapters and full source list — real links to the actual papers.
  • The blog — the written versions of the videos, deeper dives, and what I'm learning as a dad, a developer, and a small investor (the boring-on-purpose kind: index funds every month, plus small experiments to keep learning).
  • A new honest video every week on the YouTube channel.

Where this is going

Right now this is a small channel, and I won't pretend otherwise — some weeks it's made on pure stubbornness, wondering if anyone's out there. But the plan is long: a video every week, an ebook and an audiobook of the best questions someday, and — if enough of you walk along — maybe one day this becomes the job. Subscribing is the one way to be there for all of it.
